At the Victoria St project in Brunswick, the client reported water leakage around their balcony sliding door, leading to mould growth on the plaster wall and flooring. A comprehensive investigation was conducted using thermal imaging, moisture testing, and flood testing to identify the source of the problem. Several water ingress points were discovered along the compromised seal of the balcony. To address the issue, gaps around the aluminium sliding door were sealed, caulking was applied along the edges, and a waterproofing membrane was installed on the balcony to prevent future leaks.
The renovation involved removing the damaged timber flooring, wall plaster, and compromised insulation. The subfloor was thoroughly dried and monitored before replacing the affected materials. New insulation was installed, the wall was patched, and the area was finished with careful sanding and painting to ensure a flawless result. Once the work was completed, the unit was thoroughly cleaned, leaving the space restored and protected against further water damage.
